Almost Never Boring…

Prayer Request 28 May 2007

My friend Jenny (but not the Jenny who I usually mention) is running the Rock N Roll Marathon this coming Sunday (June 3rd), in San Diego, CA.  This is her very first marathon, and she’s been training for it for several months.  She is competing to raise money for cancer research.  Please pray for her this week as she makes final preparations for her race, and especially on Sunday.

Unnerving… 25 May 2007

I’m housesitting this weekend, and the house I’m at was built in the 80’s and has the typical 80’s architecture.  High ceilings, fairly open floorplan, a skylight…  The weird thing is, the skylight is in the bathroom, and it’s located directly over the toilet.  I find this rather unnerving…

More Thursday fun… 24 May 2007

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a a fun little “assessment” called a Johari window, that allows your friends to pick five or six positive traits that describe you.  It’s fun because it helps give you an idea of how others see you.

Well, my friend Jenny gave me a link today to a similar assessment called a Nohari window.  In this case, you pick five or six negative traits (or weaknesses) about your friends.  If you have a minute, follow this link and let me know what you *really* think of me.  In the meantime, I’ll sit back and hope that I don’t regret posting this…

Oh, and in totally unrelated news…  It snowed last night, so hard that I could barely see to drive home after work.  We got about 2″, but it was mostly melted off by the time I got up this morning.

Fun dates… 6 May 2007

No, not that kind of dates…

As some of you may, or may not have realized, today was 05/06/07, and just after 2:00 this morning, it was 02:03:04 05/06/07.  Being a math major, I experience a somewhat nerdy pleasure in finding number patterns, and days like today can seem a bit more “special” than others…  Go ahead, roll your eyes, I know I’m a nerd…  😛  Another special day this year is 07/07/07.  It happens to fall on a Saturday, and I read an article recently that it’s the most popular date for weddings in several years.  I can attest to this, as I have two friends getting married on that day.

Anyway…  I was bored last night, and decided to run a check and see what days the other “pattern” dates fall on…  Here are a few that I found…  If you’re a fellow “number nerd” and you’re single, you might want to bookmark this post for future reference *wink*

Note: I omitted “multiplication dates” (02/05/10 ~ 2*5 =10) for the sake of brevity…  Well, that, and because I didn’t want to bore y’all any more than necessary.

One funny thing…  My friend Jenny had a fun suggestion…  Have a morning wedding on Saturday November 11, 2011, and time the wedding so that the pronouncement happens at 11:11am.  Then you could say you were married at 11:11 11/11/11.  Or if you wanted to be even more specific and get down to hundredths of a second, 11:11:11 11/11/11.

I know, I know…  I obviously have way too much time on my hands 😛

Thursday Fun… 3 May 2007

Ever heard of a Johari Window?  Me neither, until today…

The Johari Window was invented by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in the 1950s as a model for mapping personality awareness. By describing yourself from a fixed list of adjectives, then asking your friends and colleagues to describe you from the same list, a grid of overlap and difference can be built up.

Anyway, if you have a couple minutes, follow this link, and contribute to my window.  It’s fun!  😀
